There are many types of grout to use in your bathroom. On the wall you may notice it is un-sanded, and on the floor, (depending on the size of the grout joint) it may be sanded.
Using regular un-sanded grout does have its advantages and disadvantages though:
- It is very easy to work with. Great for beginners and homeowners.
- It shrinks if to much water is added.
- There is no mold protection.
- You don’t have to, but it is recommended that you seal it every so often.
Sanded Grouts have the same advantage’s and disadvantages as listed above.
The only difference between the two is the size of the grout joint. Typically any grout joint that is 1/8″ or less is un-sanded, and 1/8″ or larger is sanded.
Next time I’ll talk about a product we like to used called “Power Grout”
